Parliament day on Wednesday, when she claimed to be “a fighter, not a
quitter” . - Liz Truss succeeded Boris Johnson as prime-minister on September
6th, after defeating Rishi Sunak in the running for the Conservative
Party’s leadership, and will be remembered as the prime-minister with
the shortest mandate in the UK’s history (the previous record had been
set by George Canning, after 119 days, until dying from tuberculosis in
1827). Truss said at Downing Street that she’d already notified King
Charles III.
